LMA
LMA is short for leadership, management and accountability, the three things EOS® expects from anybody who has people reporting to them. Leadership is direction and expectations. Management is the meetings, the feedback and the follow-through. Accountability is being willing to hold somebody to the standard once the first two have actually been done.
01
How EOS uses LMA
EOS writes LMA into the seats above the front line on the Accountability Chart™, so it is an accountability like any other rather than a personality trait. It comes up in the quarterly conversation and whenever a team finds a department where nothing moves. The usual finding is that the leadership half is fine and the management half has never happened.
Companies promote their best technicians and then wonder why the department is chaotic. Naming the three parts gives the person something specific to be bad at, which is easier to work on than being told to step up. It also gives their manager a way to check the obvious things before concluding that the person is wrong for the job.
Worked example: A manufacturer's production supervisor had been blamed for missed dates for a year. Walking through the three parts took twenty minutes. He had never held a scheduled one-to-one, had no weekly number for his line, and had never been told he was allowed to write anybody up. Two of those three were fixed inside the month.

Accountability Chart
The Accountability Chart is a picture of the seats a company needs and the three to five things each seat owns, drawn before anybody's name goes in a box.
02Quarterly Conversation™
The Quarterly Conversation is a short, informal one-to-one held every ninety days between a manager and each of their people, away from any review.
03Delegate and Elevate™
Delegate and Elevate is a four-box exercise that sorts everything on your plate by whether you are good at it and whether you enjoy it.
Start with a real question
Not sure which of these you actually need?
Tell us what the leadership team is arguing about. A person replies within one business day with a straight answer, whether that is a book, a tool or an implementer.
A person reads every one.
