Fractional Integrator

A Fractional Integrator is hired part-time to run the day-to-day of a company that needs the seat filled but cannot carry a full-time salary. Typically one or two days a week, often on contract, sometimes while a permanent hire is found. It is a market that grew up around EOS® rather than out of the books.

How a Fractional Integrator fits into EOS

EOS does not define the arrangement, but implementers meet it constantly in companies of twenty to eighty people. The Accountability Chart™ shows an Integrator™ seat with real accountabilities, and the honest answer is that nobody currently in the building should hold it. The part-timer runs the weekly meeting, owns the Scorecard and chases Rocks.

The seat is usually needed before the payroll can carry it. The alternative most founders pick is to keep the job themselves for another two years, which is the outcome the chart was drawn to prevent. The risk is the obvious one: somebody there two days a week cannot hold a team accountable if the founder keeps overruling them.

Worked example: A specialist manufacturer at seven million dollars brought somebody in for two days a week. She ran the weekly meeting, chased Rocks and did nothing else. Within two quarters the founder had stopped attending the operations calls he had sat in on for six years, and the role went full-time the following January.
